ALBUM ART SHOOT
Over the winter of 2024, through contacts at my unviersity, I got in touch with indie-folk singer/songwriter Louis Chappel, who was in search of a photographer to photograph the album art for his debut EP, Who Are You.
The aesthetic he envisioned revolved around something akin to a typical meleonconic winters day in England, which informed the colour palette of rich blues and purples, alongside the set-deisgn of a traditional English pub. Louis and I shot the series of images around Primrose, London, utilising a local pub and Primrose Hill itself, to align with the themes linked to nature in many of the songs on the EP.
The vision Louis had in mind for the images centred on them feeling nostaligic, and having the look of a print, or painting, as opposed to photography. To achieve this, I shot on digital, to give us more control in the edit, and then via the Adobe Photoshop tools which added grain and dehaze to the image, we were able to create visuals which didn’t feel overly polish or crisp.

The album art for The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie, and the way that album art feels like a tacticle drawing, served as inspiration here.
